Colwyn Bay 0 - Bethesda 3

Following the victory against COBRA at Dôl Ddafydd, Bethesda needed at least one more victory to secure their Division 1 status for next season.

Bethesda had suffered a home defeat against Colwyn Bay’s uncontested scrums’ side and were not at their strongest for their visit to the seaside. Colwyn Bay’s full squad looked a formidable one on the day.

The visitors started strongly and Gethin Long kicked a penalty goal after 3 minutes play. The outside half had 2 more attempts but the score remained at 3 points to nil at the interval. The Bay outside half also missed his single penalty attempt at goal. Bethesda butchered a couple of chances at crossing the home try line but it was that type of match.

The home side enjoyed good periods of pressure in the second half but the smaller but more mobile Bethesda forwards managed to halt all attacks. By the end of the match Bethesda’s scrummaging proved to be mutch stronger than the home side’s and their backs had tackled strongly throughout.

A match to forget as a spectacle but an extremely important one for the Bethesda players since 3 points meant 4 league points.
